Harmony System
(Mobile)

This MR system mobile allows DeKalb MRI to provide exams
to patients who would experience claustrophobia or high
anxiety in a conventional MR.
The Magnetom Symphony System offers a spacious, well-lit
opening on both ends, attractive design and soft colors
that produce a friendly environment that relaxes patients,
reduces their anxieties and minimizes claustrophobia. Exams
average 30 minutes or less. The very short length of the
MR scanner permits the patient’s head to remain outside
the magnet during many procedures, including lumbar spine,
pelvis and lower extremity exams.
The Magnetom Symphony MR system is from Siemens Medical
Systems, Inc., Iselin, New Jersey, the world’s leading
manufacturer of MR systems.
In addition to its outstanding patient comfort, the system
enables DMRC to perform high-resolution studies on both
orthopedic and neurology patients. For example, we can
now look at very small blood vessels in the brain to spot
aneurysms, or identify plaque build-ups in the carotid
arteries that might lead to a future stroke. We can also
diagnose blood flow problems in patients with phlebitis
or diabetes."
For orthopedic patients, this MR system will help DMRC
diagnose some of the most difficult joints in the body,
such as the shoulder and pelvis. It can also detect subtle
damage to the spine and joints in patients with herniated
disks and arthritis.
